The Jade Emperor's Birthday is very important to most Hokkien people. They regard this day as their 'New Year', therefore the day is celebrated by making offerings to the Jade Emperor. As usual, my parents made preparation a few days prior to the big day, as a matter of fact, a month ahead. My father folded the 'joss papers', mum ordered the 'roast pig', and also other 'kuih'. The 'mi-ku' were made on the previous day. This year we have more manpower, as my brother's friend was also here to assist. In addition, my niece also learnt to make 'mini mi-ku'. hehehe.... she was really happy with her product and informed the 'entire' world. hahaha!.
We started the prayers at 23:15 on the 8th day, and finished slightly after midnight. After the prayers, mum, brother and sister were busy at the kitchen chopping off the poached chicken, roast duck and also the roast pig! hehehe... It's great that everyone enjoyed the food as usual. hehe...
There's a house behind us that was 'firing' these fireworks! hehehe...
